Sectoral Partnership Task Group

Retail Email Bannner

As a key stakeholder delivering training in the NI retail sector, we are inviting you to participate in a Sectoral Partnership Task Group which is being established to agree future apprenticeship provision for the retail sector.

As part of current Government reforms to Apprenticeships and Youth Training, new provision is due to come fully into effect next year. The future strategy for apprenticeships sets out a step change to the current system focused on increasing the quality of apprenticeships and their parity of esteem with the traditional academic pathway.

It also identifies a clear need for employers to be in the lead role in ensuring future provision and content meets their needs. To achieve this the Department for the Economy (DfE) has committed to establishing a number of sector partnerships (made up of employers and key stakeholders) across key sectors of the economy to design and agree future provision and inform demand on a sectoral basis.

Agreement from DfE has recently been secured to set up a Sectoral Partnership Task group for retail to help oversee the development of new provision for the sector initially focused at level 2 and level 3.

Your participation in this critical piece of work, being led by the Sector Skills Development Partner People 1st, will be important to shaping provision to build future skills in the sector and will involve a time commitment of up to 4 meetings of 2hrs between Oct 2018 and March 2019

The secretariat function is being provided by Belfast Met who have now arranged the first meeting for Tues 02nd October 2018 from 10am-12pm at
