Essential Skills are the most important and useful skills we all need to succeed in education, work and everyday life. At Belfast Met, you can get qualifications in English, Maths and ICT while you are completing your course.

ESOL learners should have achieved level 1 in Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening or be at this level.

Applications are now closed for 24/25 Essential Skills courses. Applications for 25/26 Essential Skills courses will open in July 2025.
