Holly-Eve Kane: How my career has thrived since graduating.

Holly-Eve Kane explains how her career has thrived since graduating from Belfast Met’s Foundation course in Art and Design
“Born and raised in Belfast, I attended grammar school until a couple of months before my final A2 exams. I worked hard and got good grades but struggled with exam pressure and the academic environment at school. My incredible Mum gave me the courage to run a road less travelled, encouraging me to do what I thought was best for my mental health and my future. So in September 2015, I enrolled onto the full time Foundation Art and Design Level 3 Diploma at Millfield campus.
“It was there that I really thrived under the guidance of my new tutors and my amazing lecturer Eilish Bergin and learnt more than I thought was humanly possible within eight months. The kindness and advice I received at Belfast Met will stay with me for life, and the qualifications and skills I gained there set me on a smooth path to my degree in Production Design at IADT in Dun Laoghaire, and later to study a degree in Architecture at the University of Ulster.
“Eilish taught me to trust what I loved, to look back at the things I enjoyed in life and to find a pattern that would lead me to my next step. To this day I find myself remembering lessons I’ve learned there when starting any new design brief. I will be forever indebted to her, her team and Belfast Met.'
Holly-Eve, 23, is now a 2nd year architecture student studying at Ulster University Belfast, having previously trained as a Production Designer for Stage and Screen at IADT Dun Laoghaire.
The Art and Design foundation degree includes Ceramics, 3D Design, Textiles and Fashion.
