Belfast Met Rugby Academy has teamed up with Glenisk, official yogurt of Irish Rugby, to provide expert coaching at two exclusive Glenisk Rugby Training Camps hosted by Rory Best this summer.

Over 200 budding young rugby players – boys and girls, aged 7-12 years old – from across the island of Ireland will get the chance to train alongside Ireland Rugby Captain and Ulster star Rory Best under the watchful eye of IRFU qualified coaches from Belfast Met Rugby Academy.

The first Glenisk Rugby Training Camp, being held on Saturday, 11th August 2018 at The Pavilion, Stormont, will help kids to perfect their rugby skills in a fun, friendly and safe environment, as well teaching them the importance of nutrition for a healthy body and performance. The second training camp will be hosted in Dublin on Saturday, 18th August

The experienced team of Belfast Met Rugby Academy coaches will work alongside Academy students to deliver coaching sessions focusing on the fundamentals of rugby including handling drills, tackling techniques and contesting the breakdown.

Glenisk Brand Ambassador, Rory Best, will be on hand to offer top-tips and advice as one of Ireland’s most successful rugby players.

Rory and the Met’s Rugby Academy coaches will also discuss the importance of the IRFU’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Inclusivity, Fun and Excellence.

Participating children will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the NatWest 6 Nations Trophy to mark Ireland’s monumental 2018 Grand Slam win. Attendees will also be the first to receive the new and exclusive Glenisk official IRFU collectable trading cards.

Speaking about working with Glenisk to deliver the coaching provisions for the Glenisk Rugby Training Camps, Nathan Moore, Belfast Met Rugby Academy coordinator, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be asked to cover the coaching, at such a wonderful initiative such as the Rory Best Summer Camps by Glenisk. We really value community engagement at the college and we encourage our students to get involved with any opportunity.

“It is brilliant for the students to be able to bring their passion and knowledge in their main sport to the younger generation attending these camps in Belfast and Dublin. We will make sure everyone has an amazing day!"

The Belfast Met Rugby Academy is the leading sports academy in Northern Ireland for post GSCE students who wish to pursue a career in playing, coaching, teaching, or back-room support in sport or Rugby. It provides students with a unique opportunity to gain an internationally recognised qualification, whilst gaining access to top class coaching, training facilities and sport science support.

The Glenisk Rugby Training Camp with Rory Bests was free to register and 200 lucky children have been selected at random to attend the half-day event.
