Belfast Met Football Academy is delighted to be partnering with South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust, the Stadium Community Benefits Initiative (SCBI), the Irish Football Association, Colin Glen Leisure and Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. This partnership provides an initiative for Health and Social Care staff to take part in football sessions aimed at improving the physical and mental wellbeing of staff.

Darren McWilliams, Curriculum Area Manager in Sport at Belfast Met said, “This is a great initiative involving our Football Academy students Joel Green & Christopher Cummings that will see Health & Social Care staff who were under extreme stress during the past 20 months using football as a chance to not only socialise together, but as an opportunity to look after their own health and wellbeing."

Chris Cummings, Belfast Met Football Academy student said “It has been a great experience working with SCBI, IFA, Colin Glen and the Hospital Trusts when planning this event. We know how much NHS staff have been overwhelmed in the past 2 year and wanted to give back. We hope that every player enjoys the event and has a positive experience.”

Will Moore, Staff Health & Wellbeing Co-ordinator within the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust added “Our staff within the Trust are delighted to avail of this fun and dynamic exercise programme which has been created by Belfast Met. Following on from a very challenging two years, it is a brilliant opportunity to improve both their physical health and mental wellbeing."

Johnny Flynn, Colin Glen Leisure said “We are delighted to be part of this wonderful initiative and to be a facility host. This is a chance to give something back to the participants within this project and also to have the opportunity to contribute towards a partner charity.”

The Trust is also pleased that donations from the initiative will go towards supporting our Chairman’s Charity, Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda, who provide amazing healthcare in a challenging, resource deprived situation.
