Belfast Met is delighted to work with Allen and Overy in expanding their apprenticeship provision into new areas after the success of their existing partnership with the college in relation to ICT apprenticeships.
September 2019 saw four new apprentices, Conchur Garland, Keaton Hamilton, Bea Santos, Alex Burtney join their marketing and finance departments. During the course of this week, find out what the apprentices say about their experience to date as we share their stories with you across our social media channels as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2020.
Ciaran McCallion, Head of HR, Allen and Overy describes what apprentices mean to Allen and Overy as a business.
“We are in our 7th year of offering Apprenticeships in association with Belfast Met. During this time, we have increased our intake of Apprentices, year on year, and currently have a total of 11 across IT, Marketing, Finance, Legal Technology and Cyber Security.
We work closely with Belfast Met to design the curriculum and work-based learning and see Apprenticeship programmes as a win-win for both apprentices and us. Apprentices bring huge benefits to our business – providing fresh perspective, creating a talent pipeline with the skills we need for new and emerging roles, which ultimately helps us, grow the business. Apprentices benefit from hands on work experience, earning while learning and a dedicated mentor. 85% of our Apprentices stay with us after completing their studies – proof that we are getting the skills , competencies and values needed both now and for the future.”
