ESOL Assessment and Enrolment

You must be at least 16 years old to study ESOL/ELT at Belfast Metropolitan College. All new students must be assessed before the start of the course. You will do a test to check your level of English and our ESOL/ ELT staff will advise you on the best course for you.

Online Assessment

All our assessments will be online this academic year. You must book a place online. Our next assessments will take place in August 2020. Assessment bookings will open on Monday 3rd August at 12.00pm. Booking name must be the same as appearing on official documentation. Email address provided on Eventbrite must also be the email address of the applicant who will be taking the assessment. Assessment details will be sent out to applicants via the email address they provide when booking their assessment. Please Click Here to book once book. Courses are planned to be delivered face to face. However, due to Covid-19 and Public Health Authority advice, they may have to be moved to blended or online delivery.

ü  If you have passed an official English exam in the last 12 months, please send us the certificate to [email protected] when you have booked your assessment. This will help us to decide on the best class for you.

Once you have booked your Eventbrite appointment, we will be in touch about doing your assessment online before your appointment date. Assessment must be completed before booked enrolment date. Students must be available for the full day on their appointment date. If you are not available, you will not be able to get enrolled.

Please note that if you enrol on an ESOL course:
                • You are expected to attend all the classes.
                • If you do not attend classes you may not be allowed to complete your course.
                • If you cannot attend one class you must inform your teacher in advance
                • You are expected to sit the examination at the end of the course.
