Marie-Thérèse McGivern UK Public Sector Director of the Year

Belfast Met Principal and Chief Executive Marie-Thérèse McGivern has scooped the prestigious UK Institute of Directors Award - Public Sector Director of the Year for her outstanding leadership and development of Belfast Met.

The awards were held at a lunch time ceremony in the Lancaster Hotel London which gathered leading directors across the UK. Marie-Thérèse commented on her exceptional accolade -

“I am delighted to receive the IoD Public Sector Director of the Year award. It’s an absolute honour to accept such a prestigious acknowledgement from stakeholders and peers and I thank everyone who has provided me with support and encouragement throughout my career. I am so proud to be the Principal and Chief Executive of Belfast Met and I am heartened to be recognised for my passion and tenacity towards developing the College.” 

The UK awards are adjudicated by a panel of 33 governance, business and marketing experts from the IoD network across the UK who based their decision on the nominees’ proactive approach towards business growth, corporate governance and responsible directorship. The judges said –

“Marie-Thérèse displayed brilliant leadership as well as great ambition, passion and vision, and is well connected and respected in both industry and community”
