The College became Cyber Essentials Plus Certified this month which is a fantastic achievement given that it is the first Higher & Further Educational Institute in Northern Ireland to achieve its Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

This is a huge accomplishment for the College and is reflective of the relentless work of our IT Department to keep its security standards at the highest level. This certification confirms that the College complies with the requirements of the Cyber Essentials Scheme and that it takes cyber security and data protection very seriously.

This recognition will improve the College’s customer confidence by demonstrating that we are a responsible organisation with a commitment to security. It will also improve our ability to win more contracts by meeting Government tender requirements. The certification also protects the College’s reputation as we are able to reduce the likelihood of a cyber-attack occurring.

Colin Daysh, Head of IT at Belfast Met, said: “Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus is a significant milestone for Belfast Met and demonstrates the professionalism and commitment of the Belfast Met IT team to ensuring the cyber safety of our students and our staff. I’m very proud of the team and of the achievement.”
