An NI Traineeship will provide a high-quality vocational education and training programme at Level 2 and is aimed at school leavers and adults who aspire to work within a specific sector.

The NI Traineeship will available to all school leavers and adults providing participants with the skills and qualifications necessary to secure employment in their chosen occupation. Each Traineeship has been developed with employers to ensure that what you learn and the skills you develop are what employers are looking for. The NI Traineeship will allow participants to progress to an apprenticeship at Level 3 or alternatively to Further Education at Level 3.

The Make IT your career! Gain IT skills and experience with training provided by Belfast Met, Northern Ireland's Designated Digital IT Curriculum Hub! We have over 50 IT Apprenticeship roles available with a wide range of employers. Successful applicants will be employed in one of the participating companies and receive “on-the job” training from Belfast Met.

Hiring an Apprentice is a productive and effective way to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. An Apprentice can be a new or existing employee starting a new position and the process for employing an apprentice is like recruiting any other employee.

An Apprentice is in paid employment from day one. National Minimum Wage rates for apprentices apply however this rate differs for Higher Level Apprenticeships. An apprenticeship usually takes between two and four years to complete depending on the type of apprenticeship.

You will share your industry expertise and knowledge by providing mentoring and "on the job" training. Your apprentice participate in "off the job" training (usually one day per week) to achieve the relevant industry qualifications and requirements.

HLAs offer a pathway for learners to gain Level 4 & Level 5 qualifications whilst actively working in paid employment with partner employers. The entry requirements for HLAs target both those with A-Levels who wish to explore a different learning journey and provides a valuable upskilling opportunity for current employees seeking to develop new skills
Higher Level Apprenticeships

NI Traineeships(Non-employed Pathway)

Work Based Learning, in conjunction with local employers, is a critical element of Traineeships. Placement in a suitable work environment makes the learning ‘real’ and supports the development of work ready skills. Belfast Met is currently seeking to partner with employers to provide work-based learning placements.
