Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 creates a new statutory right of public access to information held by public authorities in the UK including educational organisations. The overall aim of this legislation is to enhance accountability of public bodies, encourage transparency of action and to protect individual privacy. Compliance is regulated on behalf of Parliament by an independent Information Commissioner.

Further Education institutions fall within the definition of public authority.
