Accessibility Statement
Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC) recognises that its website is one of the main ways in which people will find out about the college. It is therefore important to us that all visitors to our site have access to its contents regardless of where it is held on the site and the manner in which it is held.
In developing our website we took account of the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) specification and the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative (WIA) to ensure enhanced accessibility to as many users as possible.
We would like to continue to enhance this site and as such would welcome views on ways in which this can happen. If you have any suggestions which may help us, or if you find the website was not fully accessible to you, please let us know through the following e-mail address equalityservices@belfastmet.ac.uk

Style Switcher
Many modern browsers allow users to specify a custom style sheet that will permit users to determine things like font size, background colours and font colour. For browsers that do not fulfil this function, BMC has developed a style switcher that provides two high contrast views of the site and the default view and these can be accessed via the following links below:
Normal house style (Deafult)
A white background with black text
A black background with yellow text
These high contrast views have been developed using feedback from site users. BMC accepts that these views may not suit everyone but we will continue to respond to user feedback whenever possible.
JISC TechDis toolbar provides a range of editing and speech tools to enable internet users to better access information and interact with web pages.
Google Translate
The following feature is a link to the Google Translation Service web page. The College hopes that this will also increase the usability of the site
PDFs
We try to tag as many of our PDFs as possible, subject to resources, for basic accessibility. This allows them to be read by speech browsers. We also try to provide an alternative text-only Word document version of a PDF.
Requests for the provision of all or part of this document in alternative formats –
Braille, Daisy, large print, audio, computer disc or alternative languages will be considered. To submit a request, please contact Darrelle McSherry, email: dmcsherry@belfastmet.ac.uk
User Feedback
At BMC we recognise the importance of continuous improvement. We want to develop partnerships with our visitors so that the College is informed of any possible difficulties that visitors may experience with the site or any improvements which could be made to the site accessibility.
