BA (Hons) Professional Practice in the Creative Industries

Overview
This programme provides Level 5 graduates from a range of Creative Industry disciplines such as Film Production, TV and Journalism, Game Development, Digital Art and VFX, Graphic Design and Illustration, Esports, Commercial Photography and Cinematography, Sports Media, Screen Acting and Production, and Music and Sound for Media, with a Level 6 Honours Degree Top-Up.
The programme will provide industry focused graduates with in-depth knowledge of the core principles behind business and technical practice, and a practical understanding of how theory informs professional practice.
The programme consists of three compulsory modules:
· Business Practice for the Creative Industry: explore business practices and techniques required to deliver successful projects and create/pursue employment opportunities within the wider creative industry.
· Advanced Collaborative Project: work collaboratively in response to a complex, real-world brief within the creative industries. Apply advanced technical, creative, and project management skills to deliver a professional-standard outcome.
· Research Informed Practice: enhance specialist technical knowledge by independently managing a substantial practice-related research project from inception to completion.
The course will utilise a range of industry-leading software applicable to your subject specialism and facilities such as our state-of-the-art Film/TV, Photography and Virtual Production studios.
Successful Completion of a level 5 qualification with Distinction and 240 credits from level 5.
English GCSE – grade C or above
Mathematics – grade C or above
(Or equivalent Essential Skills for Literacy and Numeracy)

Whenever possible, we make our assessment methods as practical, with written components primarily being used to reinforce technical understanding and personally reflect on own performance. However, research is a core component to the development of any skillset and so will be tested through written assessment alongside academic writing skills appropriate to degree level.
