Overview

The Hair and Beauty industries are one of the fastest growing sectors within the UK with a vast amount of employment opportunities available. The OCN NI Level 5 Diploma in Hair and Beauty Management provides a recognised qualification offering career progression and professional development for those already in employment in the Hair or Beauty sector who wish to progress to management positions, teaching in FE, or onto further higher education in a related area.

This qualification focuses on enhancing your managerial skills within the sector, through a range of business-based units such as Salon Management, Digital Marketing and Professional Development etc. which will give you the confidence to progress your career to the next level. The course is delivered entirely online, with each session recorded so you can fit it around your busy schedule and learn in your own time.

This course has been developed in line with the most up-to-date industry requirements and the qualification will provide the learner with a solid foundation to develop their career in salon and spa management.

  • Human Resource Management within the Hair and Beauty Industry

Requirements

Minimum entry requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admissions criteria, which can be found by visiting our entry criteria page on this link

Enhance entry criteria for this course is listed below:

  • Level 3 in Beauty Therapy to include Facial Electrotherapy or
  • Level 3 in Hairdressing or
  • Level 3 in Barbering or
  • Level 3 Theatrical, Hair and Media make-up

Also

  • In addition, applicants should have 4 x GCSEs at grades C or above to include English and Maths, or an alternative level 2 qualification in Numeracy and Literacy. 
  • It is desirable that applicants have access to a suitable salon where they will be supported in a management or supervisory role.

Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g. exam certificates.

Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded now by logging into your online application account.

All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.

Students will be required to contribute approximately £100 towards the cost of educational visits on this programme.

Assessment

Assessments will be completed via a series of assignments (completed following Harvard style referencing).  Practical skills will be assessed through commercial clinics.
