Anti-Bullying in LGBTQI+

BTEC Lv3 Business students explored the acronym LGBTQI+. They chatted about discrimination, prejudice and bullying in the community and heard advice on organisations to help people in the LGBTQI+ community or anyone affected by hate crime.

The Butterfly & The Bear – Employability Skills

Local Entrepreneur & Chef, Daniel Lewis, joined Hospitality Management students on an online workshop to discuss his successful transition during lockdown, from Executive Chef on a private Yacht in Barbados to Chef and owner of the phenomenally successful online Food delivery service, The Butterfly & The Bear. Daniel spoke with passion and enthusiasm about his business, post Covid development and his career pathway to date, giving insightful tips for progression in his own colourful and exciting way. A true inspiration for our students.

Production Services Ireland (PSI)

BTEC Level 3 Music and Music Production students visited Production Services Ireland PSI in Belfast to try out sound and lighting for events. Thanks to Gareth Gordon who provided a demonstration of lighting, sound and rigging at their Belfast headquarters. A valuable opportunity for the students

Tour of Hope 365, Ballyclare

BTEC Level 3 Business Students visited the Hope 365 charity shop in Ballyclare where they got a lesson in Operations and Logistics. Students will use the knowledge gained to meet learning outcomes for their Digital Marketing assignments

Tour of SSE Arena

HND/Level 3 Music Production students visited SSE Arena on a tour guided by Steve Cheney, Stage Production Manager. This was an opportunity for students to learn more about the set-up for Biffy Clyro’s major live event. Steve explained all the backstage operations and answered questions about stage set up and the production process

Regulatory Compliance

The Health and Safety team at Belfast Met gave a series of guest lectures to HNC Forensic Science and Applied Biology students, to give an inside Health and safety image look into regulatory compliance, environmental and chemical safety, and the role of communication in regulatory compliance. The experts we need are here in house, ready to help showcase their experience to the scientists of the future!

AB Coaching Workshops

Our Supported Learning students have been benefitting from AB Coaching workshops. Stephen helped students to look at their mindset, coping with the transition to College and dealing with change and everyday stress.
