Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality

Overview

This qualification is designed to primarily who wish to develop their hospitality skills within food, customer service and bakery. It covers taster elements of our three Traineeship areas to allow for progression on completion.

This programme will offer mandatory food and service skills. Units will include:

  • Demonstrate food operation skills in displaying and presenting products
  • Demonstrate food operation skills in maintaining personal hygiene and food safety standards
  • Demonstrate food operation skills in working effectively as a team
  • Principles of personal presentation in a food business
  • Principles of customer care in a food business
  • Principles of UK baking industry

Other qualifications included are Food Safety and Award in Transversal Skills. Literacy & Numeracy will also be assessed.

This programme of study is likely to include additional enrichment activities/module(s) which are included to enhance your employability.

Requirements

Academic course entry requirements

You must hold a minimum of 3 GCSEs to include:

  • Maths grade A-E or equivalent and
  • English grade A-F or equivalent
  • It is essential that you possess the commitment, enthusiasm and positive attitude required to succeed in this customer-facing industry.

Non-academic course entry requirements

Important: All applicants must also meet the following conditions:

  • be16 years old by 1 July 2026. 
  • provide proof of: 

§ Right to Study in the UK. For courses with work placement, proof of your right to work in the UK is also required. 

§ Photographic proof of identity 

  • Provide translated copies of and/or demonstrate equivalency of non-UK qualifications.

This course tuition fee is fully funded by the Department for the Economy. 

Students are required to supply their own kit, approximate cost £200.00.  Lists of kit requirements will be given once student is enrolled.

Assessment

Students will build an online portfolio for the 1 year period
