Overview

This course offers an introduction to the health and social care sector; helping students explore potential career paths and gain a clear understanding of the sector’s service provision. Students will also learn about professional standards, workplace expectations, and the skills and qualities required to succeed in health and social care roles.

This course also introduces students to college life and supports the development of skills for further study at Belfast Met.

Requirements

Applicants will require a minimum of Grade F in both Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent

 

Non-academic course entry requirements

Important: All applicants must also meet the following conditions:

  • be 16 years old by 1 July 2026. 
  • provide proof of: 

§ Right to Study in the UK. For courses with work placement, proof of your right to work in the UK is also required. 

§ Photographic proof of identity 

  • Provide translated copies of and/or demonstrate equivalency of non-UK qualifications.

Assessment

There are no formal exams for this course. The course will be assessed through the development of a portfolio of evidence including written booklets, posters, leaflets etc. There are no placement requirements for this qualification.
