Course Overview – BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Digital Media
The BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Digital Media is a creative and energetic course that helps learners develop their digital skills while also building confidence, independence, and personal growth. It is ideal for students who enjoy being hands on and want to explore how digital content is created.
Learners take part in engaging practical projects that allow them to design visuals, capture and edit video, work with images and bring their own ideas to life using digital tools. Alongside these growing digital skills, the course supports personal development by encouraging teamwork, communication, problem solving and trying new things in a supportive environment.
There are no exams. Assessment is based on coursework that gives learners the chance to showcase their abilities. By the end of the course students will have a creative portfolio they can be proud of and will feel more confident and prepared for Level 2 study or future opportunities in the digital and creative world.

Important: All applicants must also meet the following conditions:
- be 16 years old by 1 July 2026.
- provide proof of:
- Right to Study in the UK. For courses with work placement, proof of your right to work in the UK is also required.
- Photographic proof of identity
- Provide translated copies of and/or demonstrate equivalency of non-UK qualifications.

Assessment is portfolio-based, using practical, skills-based tasks that allow learners to demonstrate their abilities in applied, real-life scenarios, with all units graded to support skills development and performance.
Careers
This qualification can lead to entry-level roles such as junior content creator, social media assistant, media production assistant, or digital marketing support assistant. It also provides a strong foundation for progressing to Level 2 digital media courses, apprenticeships, or further training in creative and digital industries
