Overview

The Belfast Digital Skills & Employability Programme is an inclusive initiative designed to help develop digital skills and boost employment potential. Funded by the Bank of America, this programme aims to increase participation of under-represented individuals in gaining industry relevant skills and access to education and employment opportunities.  

   

This Digital Skills Academy is designed for women returners wanting to open the door to new opportunities, re-enter the workplace or pivot to a new career. If you are a woman currently unemployed, doing a valuable caring role, working part time or not in paid work and want to receive the skills, confidence, insights and encouragement to re-ignite your career apply today.  

   

Belfast Met is partnering with Women in Business and their Centre of Learning to help women to re-enter the workplace with confidence, understand the current job market, enhance their CV and interview skills, and gain Digital Marketing skills.  

 

By joining the Digital Skills Academy, participants will gain:  

   

Digital Marketing Skills  This digital marketing course covers topics such as: Search Engine Optimisation, Using Mobile Technologies to Market Products and Services, Using Social Media to Market Products and Services, and Using Technology to Develop Online Interaction with Customers. These digital skills can be used in work settings across a range of different industries. Successful participants will achieve an OCN NI Level 2 award in Digital Marketing.  

   

Employability – Learn how to better understand and develop your strengths, qualities, skills, and abilities whilst building confidence in how to move into the workplace and seize new career opportunities.  

   

Employer Engagement – Meet employers and recruiters to benefit from advice, understand the work environment, and get the answers to critical questions to help on your job search. During the sessions delegates will learn more about workplace culture, connect with the individuals across different disciplines and understand how an organisation’s values align with their own. Learners will also gain insights into the application process and variety of job roles available and discover more about the current job market in Northern Ireland.  

 

Mentoring – Benefit from 1-2-1 mentoring from an experienced professional to support you on your job search and help you work toward your goals confidently for 1 hour each month for 6 months following from Academy completion. 

   

Course Days and Times  

The Digital Skills Academy will be delivered Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for 8 weeks, 09.30-12.30.  

   

Digital Skills and Employability training will take place in Castlereagh Campus, Belfast Met College, Montgomery Road, Belfast, BT6 9JD. No training will take place on bank holidays.  

   

The course will include LinkedIn training, support to develop your CV and interview skills and employer engagement delivered by The Centre of Learning, as part of the WiB Group.   

 

Training Allowance  

Participants will receive an allowance of £15 per day (based on a half day of training) plus childcare and travel expenses where applicable and evidenced.

This Digital Skills Academy is aimed at women wishing to return to the workplace. To be eligible, Applicants must meet the following criteria:  

   

·         Must be aged 18 years of age or over on commencement of the Digital Skills Academy  

·         Eligible to work and study in Northern Ireland  

·         Must have good level of spoken and written English 

   

Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.  

   

Applications will be processed in order of date received and applications will close as soon as all places are filled.
