Overview

This one-year evening course is suitable for students with an interest in barbering as a career. It is aimed at those intending to work or who currently work in barber shops or unisex salons.

You will learn basic barbering skills including:

• Consultation
• Cutting hair using barbering techniques
• Cutting facial hair
• Health and safety

You will train in the College’s state-of-the-art fully, equipped commercial hair salons where your clients will include members of the public for development and assessment purposes. You will further develop your skills through project-based learning demonstrations, practical workshops, lectures, tutorials, competition work, master classes and industry visits.

There are no entry requirements however all courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses.
