Overview
This course is funded through the Skills Focus programme.
The Skills Focus programme is open to NI based businesses with less than 250 employees. Charities and Community groups are not eligible for Skills Focus funding.
This four-day Generative AI Foundations course provides a practical introduction to the key concepts, tools, and applications of generative artificial intelligence. Through guided, hands-on activities, learners will explore how AI models generate content such as text and images, while developing core skills in prompt engineering and refining AI outputs.
The course also introduces the ethical, legal, and societal considerations of using AI, including bias, data privacy, and responsible use. Designed to be structured and easy to follow, it is suitable for beginners or those looking to build a strong foundation in AI literacy. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to apply generative AI effectively across a range of personal and professional contexts.
Qualification Aim
The aim of this Generative AI Foundations qualification is to equip learners with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to understand and use generative AI tools effectively, including creating content, applying prompt techniques, and recognising the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies
The course will be delivered online each day from 9:30am to 16:30pm

Qualification Objectives
· Understand the core concepts of generative AI, including how it differs from other types of artificial intelligence.
· Use generative AI tools to create and refine content such as text and images for practical applications.
· Develop prompt engineering skills to produce accurate and effective AI-generated outputs.
· Recognise the limitations of generative AI and select appropriate tools for different tasks.
· Understand the ethical, legal, and societal implications of AI, including bias, data privacy, and responsible use

In order to avail of Skills Focus funding, applicants should be employees of NI based businesses with less than 250 employees.

· Company based in NI
· Charities and Community organisations are not eligible for Skills Focus Funding
Your employer will need to meet with a college representative to complete the short funding application form. This meeting can take place online or the college representative can meet in person with the employer
Course will be delivered online, and learners must have access to a computer or laptop and internet. Please note that tablets, mobile phones and TVs are not compatible and should not be used for this course. A microphone and web camera is also required to improve engagement in each session and to complete the exam assignment.

Tuition Fee = £35.00
Fees are payable annually.
The programme is delivered under the Skills Focus initiative. Fees are up to 90% funded by the Department for the Economy.
Cost Per Person: £35
Assessment will take place through an online examination on the final day, combining multiple-choice questions. Learners will demonstrate their understanding of generative AI concepts, including key principles, prompt engineering techniques, practical applications, and the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies.
