Overview
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at printmaking techniques but lacked the space and equipment? Our new Introduction to Printmaking course allows you to get to grips with the tools and presses to learn to create artist quality print editions. You will learn to use a traditional Press to make stencil monoprints, collographs and drypoint etchings. You will also learn the art of lino printing. All materials provided.

Monoprinting with Stencils
Drypoint etching (intaglio printing)
Lino Printing (relief printing)
Collograph printing
What will I learn on the course?
How to develop your ideas from sketches to finished artist quality print editions
How to use tools properly and safely
How to create both relief and intaglio prints
How to use our professional printing presses
What do I need to bring? (Equipment/Materials)
All materials provided, but students will need to wear protective clothing or an apron to cover clothes.
What work will I need to do outside of the classroom?
Keeping an eye out for inspiration to develop ideas, keep an ideas sketchbook which can be drawings, written lists, print outs etc.
This course would be ideal for anyone with an interest in Print Making techniques from total beginners upwards. This can include students wanting to bolster Portfolios for University applications, artists wanting to experiment and expand their practice.

Other Costs
If students want to print on unusual materials – eg fabrics, tote bags, they will need to bring their own
Tutor will give regular feedback and guidance. Peer assessment discussions are encouraged. Self assessment reflection will be part of your sketchbooking and idea generating processes.
Careers
Progression pathways can include further leisure classes. Results from Introduction to Printmaking can be used to bulk portfolios to apply to BMC Level 3, HND or Foundation courses.
