Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sporting Excellence and Performance (603/4924/4)
Overview
This practically based, internationally recognised qualification is equivalent to three A Levels and will allow you to combine theoretical study with a wide range of practical activities in a sporting context.
The course will cover industry relevant topics including performance coaching, skill acquisition, sports psychology, exercise physiology, advanced fitness training and programming, performance analysis, physical education, and sports nutrition. You will also get an opportunity to study a wide range of employability and coaching qualifications.
This highly practical and vocational programme involves continuous assessment and no formal examinations. Students will be taught by industry specialists and will be provided with a wide range of work-based learning opportunities to enhance your employability.
Successful students can progress directly to employment within the sport and fitness sector or progress to Higher Education and study a relevant honours degree, or HND/FD.

Students are assessed using a range of different methods.
These includes exams, assignments, coursework, Project Based Learning, presentations, practical assessments, role-play, and case studies.
This is dependent on the requirements of each unit of study. Oral, written and online feedback will be provided during your course.
Careers
Students may progress to higher education courses such as Honours Degree at University, HND Sports, Foundation Degree in Health, Physical Activity and Sport. This course is relevant for employment in the sports industry such as a PE teacher, Sports Instructor, or Coach, Sports Development Officer or Health and Physical Activity Co-ordinator.
