The aim of the OCN NI Level 2 Award is to provide an understanding of the implementation of Essential Digital Skills within the construction sector including Building Information Modelling (BIM).
It is aimed at learners working within the construction sector and associated supply chains seeking to develop or enhance their digital construction knowledge and workflows.
We are currently offering the Award with completion of the Unit Digital Construction. This unit will enable the learner to develop an understanding of digital construction and the relevant technology and protocols. Learning outcomes include:
- Understanding Digital Construction
- Understanding Building Information Modelling (BIM)
- Understanding technology requirements for Digital Construction.
NOTE there is no modelling within this course.
Learners must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the programme:
- over 18 years of age;
- eligible to work in Northern Ireland;
- ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
- a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.
Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.
Courses will be delivered online and learners must have access to a computer or laptop and the internet. Please note that tablets, mobile phones and TVs are not compatible and should not be used for this course. A microphone and web camera is also desirable to improve engagement in each session.
This course is funded through the Skill Up programme. Skill Up has been designed to provide additional upskilling and reskilling opportunities to improve the skills profile of our local workforce.

Assessment involves completion of a range of online tasks, including written responses to questions, to produce written evidence to meet the required skills and outcomes.
The course is delivered in English.
Careers
The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Digital Construction may enable learners to progress and complete more units from the OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Digital Construction Skills.
Learners may also progress to the OCN NI Level 3 Award in Building Information Modelling.
