Overview
The Level 1 Award in Computerised Bookkeeping qualification is specifically aimed at learners who wish to begin their studies of computerised accounting and gain entry to a Level 1 qualification within the regulated qualification framework.
This qualification is made up of the following units:
Introduction to computerised accounting – D/508/5836
- Understand the basics of computerised accounting
- Understand accounting terms
- Recognise source documents
- Understand the basics of the VAT system
Set up a computerised accounting system and process data – Y/508/5849
- Set up a computerised accounting system
- Process credit based transactions
- Process cash sales and sundry income
- Process receipts from credit customers
- Process payments to credit suppliers
- Process payments through the bank current account
- Process petty cash transactions
- Reconcile the balance on the bank current account
- Generate reports

There are no formal entry requirements to this programme however an interest in or a working knowledge of computerised accounts or payroll will be of benefit.
Fees:
Academic period 2026:
Tuition Fee = £130.00
Examination / Registration Fee = £100.00
Fees are payable annually.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
From 1st January 2022 IAB Student membership will be compulsory and all students must be members of the IAB before registering for the assessments. All students will be required to register for student membership via the IAB website and pay the annual fee of £50. Once registered you will receive an e-certificate indicating your membership level and the date that the membership is valid until.
PLEASE DO NOT ARRANGE THIS IAB MEMBERSHIP UNTIL YOUR CLASS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE TUTOR.
This qualification is made up of:
1 – Online Knowledge Test
Online Knowledge tests are a series of independent short answer questions made up of multiple choice, gap fill, and true or false type questions. They are assessed via IABOnline and are open book.
2 – Online Assignment
Online Assignments are also assessed via IABOnline and are also open book. These are taken in class and are short case study type questions with several tasks for each case study
