Course Overview: Duration: 1 year Days per Week: 3 days in college Placement Requirement: Minimum 8 hours per week in a school setting (P3 and above or special educational needs)

- Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g. exam certificates.
- Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded now by logging into your online application account.
- All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.
- Enrolment on this course will be conditional upon satisfactory and timely completion of an ACCESS NI Criminal Records check.
- The AccessNI check will be carried out in accordance with the AccessNI Code of Practice which can be found here. A copy of this can be made available upon request
- Enhance Criteria
- 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English.

Your theoretical knowledge will be assessed through Project Based Learning, work plans, reflective journals, case studies or written assignments.
Your practical competence and the records of your practice will be assessed in the workplace by a visiting assessor.
Careers
Successful students, if deemed suitable, can seek employment in a Level 3 position in a Primary, Secondary or Special school setting.
The Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching in Learning holds 24 UCAS points. Previous students have used this qualification to enhance their applications for Higher Education qualifications such as
- Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies
- BA Early Years
- BEd and
- PGCE if they already hold essential qualifications.
