Why Choose Our Part-Time Pathway?  Flexible Learning: Our part-time, one-year course is designed to fit seamlessly into your busy schedule. Classes meet every Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, allowing you to pursue your passion for education without sacrificing other commitments.

Real-world Experience: Gain valuable practical skills by being part of a school environment. It is preferred that learners are either employed within a school however engagement in a placement in a school with P3 and above or in a special educational needs setting is also accepted.

Course Highlights:  Duration: 1 year (Part-Time)  Class Schedule: Every Wednesday, 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM  Placement Requirement: Learners are encouraged to be employed within a school however participation in a placement in a school setting with P3 and above or in a special educational needs environment is accepted.

    • Plan and deliver learning activities
    • Support literacy and numeracy development
    • Support teaching and learning in a curriculum area
  1. Post Primary Focus:
    • Support delivery of the 14-19 curriculum
    • Provide literacy and numeracy support
    • Provide information and advice to young people
  1. Special Educational Needs:
    • Support disabled children and young people
    • Support children and young people with behavioural, emotional, and social development needs
    • Support learners with cognition and learning needs

Requirements
  • Requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admissions criteria, which can be found by visiting our entry criteria page here to find out the standard entry criteria.
  • Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g. exam certificates.
  • Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded now by logging into your online application account.
  • All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.
  • Enrolment on this course will be conditional upon satisfactory and timely completion of an ACCESS NI check.
  • The AccessNI check will be carried out in accordance with the AccessNI Code of Practice which can be found here. A copy of this can be made available upon request

Enhance Criteria

  • 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English.
  • Be employed in a school setting or be able to attend a substantial placement, in a classroom setting with P3 and above

Assessment

Your theoretical knowledge will be assessed through work plans, reflective journals, case studies, short assignments or question papers.
Your practical competence and the records of your practice will be assessed in the workplace by a visiting assessor.
