Overview
The Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy will provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to provide sports massage therapy to clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/post- acute injuries or underlying pathology conditions. Successful achievement of this qualification will give individuals a licence to practice as a sports massage therapist.
This internationally recognised qualification is endorsed by the Sports Massage Association and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
100% attendance is mandatory, and any absence will require notification to tutor or administration with evidence relating to extenuating circumstances.
The Qualification is made up of 5 mandatory units
- Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage
- Principles of Health and Fitness
- Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunctional
- Professional practice in Sports Massage
- Sports massage treatments
You may be required to attend and travel to external sporting events that are often outside of the normal timetable and can sometimes be at weekends e.g. The Belfast marathon, which is usually held on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, (or equivalent qualification(s) or relevant professional experience may be considered
All students will be required to provide evidence of meeting the entry criteria prior to the start of the course
Must attend a Pre entry advise(PEA) and assessment session.

Fees are payable annually.
All students are actively encouraged to purchase a clinic uniform and suitable footwear as well membership of the Sports Massage Association (SMA). The SMA is a Professional Association that offers membership to students and qualified sports massage therapists. It offers details of national CPD, networking, and advise re Insurance for both student’s and qualified sports massage therapists (approximate cost for student membership £27).
