Overview

The Belfast Digital Skills & Employability Programme is an inclusive new initiative designed to help develop digital skills and boost employment potential. Funded by the Bank of America, this programme aims to increase participation of under-represented individuals in gaining industry relevant skills and access to education and employment opportunities. 

Each Digital Skills Academy has a particular focus on supporting those most socially and economically disadvantaged, such as people not currently in employment, education, or training or who have caring responsibilities.  

  

This Digital Skills Academy is focused on adult learners who wish to increase their skills in Data Analytics. 

By joining this Digital Skills Academy, participants will gain: 

Microsoft Excel associate qualification covering: 

 Manage worksheets and workbooks, data cells and ranges. 

 Manage tables and table data and charts. 

 Perform operations by using formulas and functions 

Data Visualization and Power Bi experience   

• Gain a solid foundation in data visualization principles and best practices;  

• Learning the fundamentals of Power BI, to design clear and impactful charts/graphs.   

 Leverage Power BI for comprehensive data transformation, analysis, and visualization.  

• Learn to import, clean, and transform raw data into analysis-ready formats 

Python and AI experience –  

• Learn software fundamentals to help for data manipulation and analysis, data visualisation and modelling.  

Employer Engagement – Participants will have the opportunity to network with local IT employers. 

 

Course Days and Times 

The Digital Skills Academy will be delivered over 8 weeks as follows: 

 

Week 1. First day 28/01/26 -09.30am-1.30pm– Intro to the course and induction. Thursday: 9:30am – 4:30pm  

 

Weeks 2 – 3: Wednesday, Thursday 9:30 – 4:30 

 

Week 4 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 – 4:30 

 

Week 5: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 – 4:30 

 

Week 6-7 : Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 – 4:30 

 

Week 8: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 – 4:30 

 

 

NB: (St Patricks Day off)  

 

Training will take place in the Belfast Met Titanic Quarter campus and E3, Springvale Campus.   

 

 

 

Training Allowance 

 

Participants will receive a weekly training allowance of up to £150, based on full attendance each week, plus childcare where applicable and evidenced.  

 

If you are in receipt of universal credit or benefits, it is your responsibility to speak directly to your support officer to review any potential impacts this may have

To be eligible, Applicants must meet the following criteria:   

 

·         Eligible to work and study in Northern Ireland   

·         Must have good level of spoken and written English  

    

Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.   

    

Applications will be processed in order of date received and applications will close as soon as all places are filled
