Overview
An exciting ICT Apprenticeship programme has been developed to provide young people with the skills and experience required to take up opportunities in the ICT sector. The programme has been inspired and designed by a number of Northern Ireland’s top ICT companies, in partnership with the Department for the Economy, in support of this important and growing sector. This course will cover units in the following areas; computer networks, cyber security, fundamentals of IT, computer systems - hardware and software and IT technical support. This programme of study is likely to include enrichment units which are an additional component to enhance your employability.
It is predicted that there will be a shortfall of 10,000 skilled IT workers in Northern Ireland by 2026. Globally, Cyber Security is one of the fastest growing areas in IT with a predicted global shortfall of 3.5 million skilled cyber security professionals by 2021. Software development is one of the leading areas of IT in
Northern Ireland and there is a predicted growth in the areas of Cloud & Application development as well as Data Analytics. Our courses are designed to help you develop your Cyber Security & Networking skills and Software, Cloud & Application Development and Data Analytics skills in a meaningful and vocational way and give you the skills to develop your chosen career.

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English
To be able to apply at this stage, you must be employed in an IT role or have an arranged an apprenticeship with an employer in IT.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) for FE Courses
APL allows you to use evidence from prior learning or experience to gain entry onto a course at Belfast Met. Belfast Met will work with you to make sure that relevant learning or work experience is formally recognised through the APL Process. Successful completion of this apprenticeship will enable students to progress to the Higher Level Apprenticeship or full time employment.

Cyber Security/Network Engineer
Help to protect an organisation by employing a range of technologies and processes to prevent, detect and manage cyber threats. This can include protection of computers, data, networks and programmes.
