Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice (603/4665/6)
Overview
If you are interested in learning how to make Films and TV programmes, our Level 3 Television and Film Production is for you.
We cover the fundamentals of Film Production. From Script to Edit we cover the basis of all Factual, Fictional and Creative Content for Film, TV and Online platforms.
In the 1st year we learn the basics: Research, Script writing, Camera, Sound, Editing, Production and the Professional etiquette and Communicative skills to drive that content. This accumulates in the form of efforts to create a Documentary and a Short Fictional Film.
In 2nd Year we focus on Students passion for Individual Careers - producing a variety of Live and Local Client Promotional material in the efforts to progress the Student in their chosen Crew Role - eg Production Manager, Camera Operator or Sound Mixer.
Then Finally we produce a Short Film worthy of Film Festival entries.
What are we looking for?
You need be self-motivated, enjoy and thrive in a team environment and have good communication skills. This is a two year programme which is equivalent to three A Levels. The programme of study is likely to include enrichment units which are an additional component to enhance your employability.
All College equipment is Industry standard and Lecturers all have Film industry experience.
Several students that have completed this course have gone on to successful careers in the Film and TV industry.
In addition, students that started on this course have won a number of Film & TV awards.

4 GCSEs at grade C or above
If required, you will also undertake Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.

APL allows you to use evidence from prior learning or experience to gain entry onto a course at Belfast Met. Belfast Met will work with you to make sure that relevant learning or work experience is formally recognised through the APL Process. Academic period 2025:
Fees are payable annually.
All Equipment is provided for. But we advise investment in a DSLR Camera and SSD Drive (1TB Minimum) for future and external use by the potential Students.
Assessment is 100% coursework. There are 4 Units that our both internally and externally assessed based on knowledge experienced, gained and applied.
Careers
Successful completion of Level 3 will make you industry ready, or if you prefer you can progress onto one of our Foundation Degree Courses in the Belfast TV and Film school. Or the following occupations:
Level 3 Film and TV Production – junior technical roles, freelance director/producer/cinematographer, production runner, trainee positions.
If you’re passionate about communicating with an audience either by film, sound, television, journalism or visual effects and motion graphics, our courses will equip you with the skills to move from ordinary to outstanding. We offer many level three courses to help you progress to Foundation Degrees or University degree programmes.
