Overview
Our Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is an intense one-year course for students hoping to progress onto a degree in art-related subjects. It is a project-based course that allows you to develop your portfolio so you have the best possible chance of getting a place at the university of your choice. This course will build on existing skills as well as introducing new ideas, media and ways of learning.

You could work in various aspects of design such as Graphic, Interior, Product, Fashion, Photography, 3D Design, Game and Media Design. A degree in fine arts can lead to a rewarding career creating art. Many artists have other jobs to support their working practice. Careers in Fine art and Crafts include Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Textiles, and Installation. Many educators will obtain higher degrees in fine arts or general art studies to find the best careers.
Minimum A Level Art and Design at grade C and five GCSEs A – C including Math and English.
OR
Level 3 BTEC qualifications in Art and Design must have the following grades:
*18 Unit Extended Diploma - PPP or equivalent qualification
*12 Unit Diploma - MP
*90 Credit Award - MM
Plus five GCSEs A - C including Math and English
The course has both a practical and critical emphasis, students will work to deadlines as they respond to briefs, preparing them for the realities of working in the creative sector. Regular assessment and supportive feedback assist the progression of each student. The development of a distinctive portfolio of artwork for progression interview is an essential feature.

The course gives learners a trusted route into higher education across all areas of the Art and Design sector, and other arts-related subjects, or into employment. Careers may include:
Art Educator: Art Teachers work in primary and secondary schools, where they provide instruction on drawing, colouring, and painting, as well as art history. Plan and present art displays. Average Salary - £20,000 - £35,000
Art therapists use art to help patients cope with emotional and mental health problems and allow them to express emotions and feelings.
