The Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing will develop your knowledge and skills in gym instruction to enable you to pursue a career as a gym instructor. This qualification will provide a combination of knowledge and skills to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes to a range of clients.

This one semester programme will enable you to gain employment in the health and fitness industry or develop your career as a fitness professional. 

About this Course

The course you will be enrolled on is the Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing

These are the units you will undertake;

  • Principles of Anatomy, Physiology and Fitness
  • Professionalism and Customer Care for Fitness Instructors
  • Health and Safety in the Fitness Environment
  • Conducting Client Consultations to Support Positive Behaviour Change
  • Planning and Instructing Gym-Based Exercise
Requirements

Requirement are pre-defined by the College's admissions criteria.

Students should be aged 16 plus and ideally some experience of gym-based exercises including free weights.

Students should be fit enough to cope with physical exertion and individual participation involved in the course.

There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication at Level 2. Students need to have the required competence to complete work at home in the form of written worksheets or revising for an exam for the duration of the course.

Please note that 2 practical assessments are as a group and 1 practical assessment is individually undertaken and for which you will be required to provide your own client. There is also a client consultation assessment completed in class.

Assessment is through a range of practical observations, exam, case studies/ worksheets and a portfolio.
