Commitment-Friendly Schedule: Classes are conveniently scheduled every Wednesday, starting at 4 pm. We understand the importance of flexibility in your life, making it easier for you to pursue your dreams while balancing other commitments.

What Will You Learn? Delve into the enchanting world of child development (0-12 years) and acquire practical and technical skills necessary for success in the Early Years and Childcare Sector. Our part-time course covers all aspects of child development, health and safety, play, and early learning.
Part-Time Course Highlights:
- Flexible Schedule: Attend classes every Wednesday, starting at 4 pm, accommodating your lifestyle.
- Hands-On Learning: Accumulate at least 350 placement hours by participating in a placement at least 2 days per week. Apply your knowledge in real-world childcare settings. This could also be achieved through relevant employment.
- Career Progression: Unlock opportunities and create a pathway to City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Children’s, Care Learning and Development (Northern Ireland).
Apprenticeship Option: This course is also available as an All Age Apprenticeship! If you are currently employed in the Childcare sector and interested in pursuing this option, let us know. We will support you in discussing this with your employer, providing a seamless path for career advancement. Apprentices will be required to complete additional qualifications as outlined in the Northern Ireland Apprenticeship framework.

- Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g. exam certificates.
- Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded now by logging into your online application account.
- All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.
- Enrolment on this course will be conditional upon satisfactory and timely completion of an ACCESS NI Criminal Records check and Social Services check
- The AccessNI check will be carried out in accordance with the AccessNI Code of Practice which can be found here. A copy of this can be made available upon request
Enhanced Criteria
- Preference will be given to those with Level 1 English and Maths (GCSE grade D-G)
It is recommended that learners are employed in the childcare sector however placements can be arranged but learners must be available to attend placement at least 2.5 days per week.

Academic period 2025:
FE Tuition Fee = £545.00 (Concessionary = £327.00)
Examination / Registration Fee = £135.00
Fees are payable annually.
You will be assisted in building a portfolio of evidence and your practical skills will be assessed both in class and in an early years setting by a visiting assessor.
Careers

The Level 2 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development is an equivalent to 4 GCSEs A*-C
Successful students, if deemed suitable, can progress to further study at Level 3 or seek employment in a Level 2 position in the Early Years, Childcare and Education sectors.
Employment in the sector may lead to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or similar.
Options for further Level 3 study within Early Years, Childcare and Education include: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development Level 3 Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
Successful completion of Level 3 qualifications can lead to progression onto higher educations courses including university. |
