Overview

Please enrol for Level 2, the level which you will study will be determined on the 1st night of the course.

Non native speakers must provide evidence of competency in English Language 

Level 1 

This course is designed to suit introductory learners only. 

The delivery of this course combines theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations, and plenty of hands-on welding. Welding processes available are:

Introduction to Manual Metal Arc (MMA) 
Introduction to Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) – Carbon Steels 
Introduction to Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding. 

Level 2  

At this level you may be required to demonstrate your ability to commence your study. 

This course is designed to enable you to gain welding skills and knowledge to a level that will enable you to complete welded joints in a selection of positions. 

The delivery of this course combines theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations, and plenty of hands-on welding. Welding processes available are:

Award in Manual Metal Arc (MMA) 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) – Carbon Steels 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) – Stainless Steels 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas Welding - Aluminium (Levels 2 and 3 only) 
Award in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding. 
Award in Flux Core Arc Welding 

Level 3 

This course is designed to suit anyone who wishes to gain welding skills and knowledge to a level that will enable you to complete welded joints in a selection of complex positions.  You must already hold a City & Guilds 3268 Level 2 Award in Welding Skills to apply for level 3 or have sufficient welding skills which are assessed when course commences.  Your prior experience and/or level 2 certificate must be relevant to the process you wish to study at level 3. 

The delivery of this course combines theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations and plenty of hands-on welding.   

Students MUST choose only ONE type of welding they wish to be qualified in from the following welding awards: 

Award in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding (Pipe) 
Award in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding (Plate) 
Award in Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Welding (Pipe) 
Award in Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Welding (Plate) 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding – Carbon Steels 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)  Welding – Stainless Steels 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas  (TIG) Welding – Aluminium 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)  Welding (Pipe) 
Award in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding (Sheet)

Requirements

Level 1

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. 

Level 2

There are no specific entry requirements for this course but it is best suited to anyone with experience of welding and looking to develop your skills further, and/or to increase your responsibilities and knowledge.  

Level 3

You MUST possess a City & Guilds 3268 Level 2 Award in Welding Skills to apply for Level 3.

Examination / Registration Fee = £190.00

Tuition Fee = £450.00

Fees are payable annually.

Assessment

For each qualification candidates will be required to complete the practical assignments and one knowledge test (per mandatory unit/qualification).
