Overview

Accounting is an integral part of any business and a discipline that offers a wide variety of employment opportunities locally across the public and private sector. The growth in multi-national organisations also means that a qualification in accounting can provide you with global employment opportunities. If you are interested in specialising in accounting and working within the financial or wider business sector, then this two-year full-time course is for you.

Technical modules include:

·         Financial Reporting

·         Economics

·         Preparation of Financial Accounts

·         Cost Accounting

·         Financial Accounting

·         Management Accounting

·         Taxation

·         Business Law

This course has a strong emphasis on the development of employability skills and you will complete a Managing Professional Development module in the first year and engage in a period of work placement within a Work Based Learning module in second year, second semester. When on work placement you will be required to be on placement four days a week and in college one day a week and it is the student’s responsibility to secure the placement.

This programme of study is likely to include enrichment units, which are an additional component to enhance your employability.

Please read our Terms and Conditions before applying for or enrolling on any of our courses.

This programme and its progression pathway degree are accredited for exemptions by a number of Accounting professional bodies.  As a result, the regulatory body may require particular departures from the General Programme Regulations at Ulster University.  Where that is the case you will be given notice of those departures when they come into force.  Such changes are only taken to ensure that the programme remains accredited with the regulatory body.

Applications to this course can be made through UCAS using code U005.

If you haven’t started a UCAS application yet, and only want to apply to Belfast Met, you can apply directly to us using Apply Now option and we will process a UCAS application on your behalf.
