Launch of first academy as part of new Centre of Digital Innovation and Technology (CDIT)

Belfast Met is delighted to announce that it has partnered with Stranmillis University College to launch the first digital skills academy to go live as part of the new Centre of Digital Innovation and Technology (CDIT) collaborative framework.
Thanks to generous funding from Bank of America, Belfast Met has already delivered over 10 academies as part of the Belfast Digital Skills and Employability Programme. CDIT strengthens and extends the reach of the programme by bringing together three key further and higher education institutions – Belfast Met, Queen’s University Belfast and Stranmillis University College.
The new CDIT Mastering the Digital Classroom academy is designed specifically to empower student teachers with the digital confidence and tools they need for the classrooms of the future.
Diana Atchison is the College’s project manager for CDIT. Speaking at the launch, she said:
“Belfast Met is proud to be working alongside Stranmillis University College in launching this new CDIT Digital Skills Academy. It is an important step in empowering future teachers to lead with confidence in the digital age.
“Through partnership and skills development, CDIT is working towards lasting digital innovation in education."
Adding her support for the initiative, Dr Irene Bell, Head of STEM, Stranmillis University College said:
“Stranmillis University College is delighted to be delivering the first course of the CDIT Digital Skills Academy. Through this advanced, accredited course, the newly qualified teachers will be ideally positioned to develop the digital skills of the next generation.”
