Belfast Met shortlisted for national Engage Award

Engage Awards Finalists 2026 social image

Belfast Met is delighted to have been named a finalist in the 2026 Engage Awards, having been shortlisted in the Excellence in Improving Customer Outcomes category for its Assured Skills Academies programme.

The recognition celebrates the success of the College's employer-led approach to skills development, which helps participants gain the qualifications, experience and support needed to progress into sustainable employment while addressing workforce shortages in the childcare and healthcare sectors.

The shortlisted initiative was developed in partnership with employers to ensure training reflected real workforce needs. By combining accredited learning, practical experience, employer engagement and employability support, the academies have created clear pathways into employment for learners while providing employers with access to skilled, job-ready candidates.

Funded by the Department for the Economy, the academies have delivered positive outcomes for both learners and employers. Participants reported increased confidence, improved employability skills and a greater understanding of workplace expectations, while employers benefited from access to skilled, job-ready candidates.

The Engage Awards received a record number of entries this year, with organisers describing the standard of submissions as the highest to date, making Belfast Met's place among the finalists a particularly noteworthy achievement.

This recognition is a testament to the dedication of colleagues across the College and the strength of our partnerships with employers. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed to this success.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in London on 10 November.
