Belfast Met launches new course in retail travel services

The College has worked closely with the retail travel trade to develop a new Apprenticeship Framework in Travel Services, designed in direct response to sector staffing shortages in recent years.
This framework specifies the standards and the criteria for the delivery of level 3 apprenticeship training to achieve qualified status within the travel industry. Anyone who successfully completes the apprenticeship, will be awarded a level 3 qualification and recognition as a qualified person within the industry sector.
Lorraine Girvan, Belfast Met’s Curriculum Manager for Travel and Tourism wishes to thank those agents who assisted with the development of the apprenticeship framework and is delighted to see the final product come to fruition. Lorraine said, “I am looking forward to working collaboratively with the trade, to resolve ongoing recruitment issues while securing a stable workforce for the future.”
It is planned that the level 3 apprenticeship will be delivered in one year, with one day per week in college and 4 days in the workplace.
The college has already received numerous applications for the course, which highlights a strong demand for retail travel services apprenticeships.
