Overview

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the hospitality industry, focusing on customer service excellence, operational efficiency, and professional standards. Participants will develop the skills required to work effectively in hotels, restaurants and service-oriented environments.

Key areas include front-of-house operations, food and beverage service, guest relations, health and safety, and effective communication, menu knowledge and innovative bar trends. The course also emphasises teamwork, problem-solving, and cultural awareness to ensure high-quality guest experiences.

Upon completion, learners will be prepared to contribute positively to guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and brand reputation across a range of hospitality settings.

Requirements

Academic course entry requirements

You must hold a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A to C including:

  • English grade A-C or equivalent. 
  • Maths grade A-D or equivalent.

Non-academic course entry requirements

Important: All applicants must also meet the following conditions:

  • be 16 years old by 1 July 2026. 
  • provide proof of: 

§ Right to Study in the UK. For courses with work placement, proof of your right to work in the UK is also required. 

§ Photographic proof of identity 

  • Provide translated copies of and/or demonstrate equivalency of non-UK qualifications.

Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol e.g. exam certificates.

Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded on your online application account.

All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, with the exception of language specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.

This course tuition fee is fully funded by the Department for the Economy. 

Students are required to supply their own kit, approximate cost £ 50.00.  Lists of kit requirements will be given once student is enrolled.
