VTCT Skills Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy Massage (500/8861/0)
Overview
This course is aimed at those learners who have already achieved their Level 2 in Beauty Therapy (or equivalent) and want to develop their skills further and work within the Beauty Industry. In addition, underpinning knowledge will be delivered alongside the practical units to help complement your overall qualification which in turn will make you more industry ready and employable.
During the course, you will carry out assessments within a commercial salon environment, prepare an online portfolio, participate in research projects, and take online exams. Within this one-year course you will study a range of practical units including:
- Facial Electrics
- Pre-blended Aromatherapy
- Body massage
- Hot Stone Massage
- Indian Head Massage
Essential Skills Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy are also part of the programme of study for students who have not achieved a Grade C or equivalent in these subjects.
This programme of study is likely to include additional enrichment activities/module(s) which are included to enhance your employability.

Enhance entry criteria for this course is listed below:
- Applicants’ qualifications must include 4 GCSE's Grade C or above to include a Beauty which must include a facial unit.
Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g., exam certificates.
Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded now by logging into your online application account.
All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.
Entry requirements can change and be discussed on an individual basis if necessary.
In the event of undersubscription, course criteria may be lowered.

All fees are set in accordance with DfE regulations.
This course tuition fee is fully funded by the Department for the Economy.
Assessment will be carried out in the form of building a portfolio of evidence. This is include practical observations via a commercial clinic throughout the year and online exams.
Careers
There are many local, national and international career opportunities open to the qualified beauty therapist including work in salons, department stores, hotels, health farms, cruise liners and spas. With additional qualifications, opportunities exist to work as a manufacturer, technician, trainer or assessor. This course may facilitate the progression onto a higher-level qualification in a related area.
