Overview

This qualification is designed for people who wish to develop the tools and confidence to coach people as part of their normal working role. This may be within their first management role, including team leaders and first-line managers or as an experienced colleague. This course is delivered in a blended learning format, with online weekly classes and a face-to-face skills workshop once per month.

 

The course will allow you to:

 

• Know what it takes to be an effective coach in your workplace
• Understand how coaching works – learn a coaching model and tools and techniques to support it
• Put your new skills into practice in your job – carry out supervised coaching sessions
• Analyse, assess and plan to improve your own coaching ability

 

 For employers it ensures you develop coaches who are properly equipped with the skills, knowledge and ethical understanding they need to be effective.

 

The course includes completion of the following 3 units totalling 10 credits:

 

  • Understanding good practice in Coaching within an organisational context
  • Undertaking Coaching within an organisational context
  • Reflecting on coaching skills within an organisational context
Requirements

To enter students must have an appropriate level of written and spoken English to meet the requirements of a Level 3 qualification. It is recommended that students hold at least GCSE level qualifications.

Students must also work in an organisation or have access to a setting where they have access to 1 individual that they can coach for a total 6 hours.

All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.

  • Places on courses are limited and course dates are subject to change.
  • Students must be available to attend during class hours.
  • Minimum numbers will be required before a course will run. 

To take part in a Skill Up course or programme, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Applicants to be 18 years or older at point of enrolment.
  • Applicants must have a right to work and undertake training in the UK at the point of application and for the duration of the course and must not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status.   • Individuals will be available to register in person at provider campus as required;
  • Individual courses may have enhanced eligibility, details of which will be provided by The Provider.

Assessment

Assessment method: Assignment and portfolio evidence to include observation of coaching practice.

Assessment is based on continuous course work and evidence must be work based/related

The Level 3 Award in Coaching can assist with access to careers in coaching and mentoring, management, learning and development. Belfast Met are a provider member of the Association of Coaching and learners can avail of free membership for 12 months as part of their qualification.
