Level 2 Introductory Awareness of Autistic Spectrum Conditions (Skill Up, September) (M/601/5316)

Overview
This course is funded through the Skill Up Programme. Skill Up has been designed to provide additional upskilling reskilling opportunities to improve the skills and profile of our local workforce. You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and should have access to to a PC or laptop for preparing submissions.
A mandatory induction session will be held on 8th January from 6pm to 7pm. You must attend this session before learning commences commence on 15th January
The NOCN Level 2 Award in Meeting the Needs of Learners with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the Mainstream Classroom aims to improve services within the education sector for people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The focus is to develop strategies that people can use to make the service they offer more effective by understanding of the needs of this group and adapting services to address those needs.
Learners must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the programme:
- over 18 years of age;
- eligible to work in Northern Ireland;
- ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
- a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.
Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.
Courses will be delivered online, and learners must have access to a computer or laptop and internet. Please note that tablets, mobile phones and TVs are not compatible and should not be used for this course. A microphone and web camera are also desirable to improve engagement in each session.
In addition, the course requires the learner to have an appropriate level of written and spoken English and computer literacy.

The course is assessed through completion of an online portfolio showing evidence of knowledge and understanding of the subject area.

This qualification can lead to roles such as teaching assistant, SEN support worker, learning mentor, or youth worker. It also supports progression into further study in education or child development. You'll be well-prepared to work in inclusive learning environments, supporting learners with ADHD and other additional needs.

A strong interest in inclusive education and supporting learners with ADHD through tailored teaching strategies, behaviour management techniques, and an understanding of child development. Passionate about promoting neurodiversity, advocating for learners' needs, and enhancing professional skills to create supportive and effective learning environments.
