Overview
This course is funded through the Skill Up Programme. Skill Up has been designed to provide additional upskilling reskilling opportunities to improve the skills and profile of our local workforce.
A mandatory induction session will be held on 15th October from 6pm to 7pm. You must attend this session before learning commences on 22nd October.
The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Managing Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People qualification has been designed to enable the learner to understand the reasons for and effects of challenging behaviour in children and young people, how challenging behaviour may be managed and what support is available.
Learners must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the programme:
- over 18 years of age;
- eligible to work in Northern Ireland;
- ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
- a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.
Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.
Courses will be delivered online and learners must have access to a computer or laptop and internet. Please note that tablets, mobile phones and TVs are not compatible and should not be used for this course. A microphone and web camera is also desirable to improve engagement in each session.
In addition, the course requires the learner to have an appropriate level of written and spoken English and computer literacy.

The course is assessed through completion of an online portfolio showing evidence of knowledge and understanding of the subject area.
