Cambridge English Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) (501/1891/2)

Overview
This is a Level 5 qualification in English Language Teaching to Adults. The course is delivered face -to- face on a part-time basis every Tuesday and Thursday evening for 17 weeks from September to January.
This course is for you if you wish to enter the English Language Teaching profession or if you are already working in that field and want to acquire a formal qualification. This course will help you to:
1. Develop familiarity with the principles of effective teaching.
2. Acquire a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners.
3. Improve your ability to analyse spoken and written language.
4. Gain experience of lesson and syllabus planning.
5. Prepare and evaluate resources and materials.
You will also have the opportunity to observe experienced teachers, take part in professional development, and complete 6 hours of assessed teaching practice.
The course is composed of:
1. Input sessions, which take place on Tuesday evening
AND
2. Assessed teaching practice with live students, which takes place on Thursday evening.

Classes are limited to 12 places per course.
All students are expected to do some background reading before and during the course. A reading list will be provided.

Essential:
1. A high standard of spoken and written English.
2. At least 20 years old, although the Centre may consider applications from younger applicants if they are deemed suitable.
3. 2 GCE A-levels or the equivalent qualifications required for entry into higher education.
English teaching experience is not a requirement.
Non-native speakers of English are welcome to apply if they present a UK recognised certificate showing they have reached C1 level in English Language, e.g. IELTS or Cambridge International.
Applications will be processed on a first come first served basis.
Suitably qualified applicants are invited for interview and asked to complete a pre-interview language task as well as a brief written task on the day of the interview.
Places are limited and will be offered to those candidates who it is felt are best equipped to complete the course successfully.

Examination / Registration Fee = £325.00
Tuition Fee = £1350.00

Careers
You will acquire the skills necessary to enter the profession of English language teaching. The Cambridge CELTA qualification is the most widely recognised in its field, both in the UK and Ireland as well as abroad.
