Overview

This course is intensive and is delivered one evening per week for one year at our Titanic Campus. It follows the CCEA GCSE Chemistry, revised specification 2017, subject code 1110, which is available form: https://ccea.org.uk/key-stage-4/gcse/subjects/gcse-chemistry-2017 
This course develops students’ knowledge and understanding of the material world and the effects of chemistry on society. Students learn about organic chemistry, quantitative chemistry and electrochemistry. They apply their understanding of the scientific process in the laboratory and develop their observational and problem-solving skills.

You will study the following units:
Unit 1: Structures, Trends, Chemical Reactions, Quantitative Chemistry and Analysis
Unit 2: Further Chemical Reactions, Rates and Equilibrium, Calculations and Organic Chemistry
Unit 3: Practical Skills
All examinations take place in May/June completed at either Foundation or Higher Tier with advice from your tutor.

Requirements

• 16 or over on 1st July of enrolment year
• A good understanding of Key Stage 3 science.
• GCSE English Language Grade C or above or equivalent.
