Overview

Tour guiding has become one of the biggest, exciting and fastest growing industries in the UK. If you are interested in working in the tourism industry and are passionate about meeting people and providing excellent customer service, then this introductory course in tour guiding could be for you.

The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Tour Guiding has been designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills that are required to develop and deliver a tour commentary and to lead groups on a guided site/walking tour. 

This introductory course appeals to a wide variety of learners to include adult learners who are looking for an opportunity to study something interesting and new. This part-time course runs for one semester and is delivered over a half day. The Level 2 Award for tour guiding is in high demand and early enrolment is advised.

Applicants are advised that elements of this course can be physically demanding to include compulsory walking tours that can last more than three or four hours.

No entry criteria are required for this course other than mentioned below.

All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, apart from language-specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.

It is therefore essential that learners who do not have English as their first language hold a minimum of a level 2 ESOL qualification in written and spoken English.

Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g. exam certificates.

Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded now by logging into your online application account.

Fees are payable annually.

If you are an employee of a NI Business with less than 250 employees, your employer may be eligible to apply for funding towards the cost of this programme.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed through observation of tour guiding in practice and building a portfolio of evidence.
