Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business (601/7160/1)
Overview
This two-year BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business course is the equivalent of three A Levels. In your studies you will undertake practical learning experiences to gain the qualification, working with local businesses and industry to apply your studies to real world tasks. The course will give you in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding you need to work in the business environment or start up your own business.
During the course you will study business themes such as:
- Developing a Marketing Campaign
- Personal & Business Finance
- Managing an Event
- Principles of Management
- Business Decision Making
- International Business
- Recruitment & Selection
- Digital Marketing
- Work Experience
- Pitching a New Business.
This programme of study gives students the opportunity to gain Essential Skills Numeracy with the potential to gain a Level 2 qualification equivalent to GCSE Grade C. If you do not have a grade C or above in Maths it is compulsory that you complete this as part of your timetable. For applicants who have a grade D in GCSE, we offer a fast-track course at the beginning of the year and our Essential Skills team will be able to help you during enrolment.

- Applicants’ qualifications must include 4 GCSEs at Grade A-C which include English & Maths (preferably Grade C achieved in both English & Maths) or equivalent (e.g., Essential Skills Literacy Level 2).
Entry requirements can change and be discussed on an individual basis if necessary.
Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol e.g. exam certificates.
Achieved and pending qualifications can be recorded on your online application account.
All courses within Belfast Met are delivered and assessed in English, with the exception of language specific courses. Your competence in English must be verified prior to enrolling on your chosen course.

The course is assessed via a variety of assignments, presentations, observation, individual projects, and controlled assessments. There are 4 external exams.
Careers
Successful completion of the Extended Diploma can lead to study progression at Level 4 or 5 in a range of subjects (including university) or directly to employment in the business environment.
BTEC L3 students can progress to HND and Foundation Degree programmes within Belfast Met, which can allow entry to Degree Top-Up opportunities.
