City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma In Site Carpentry (600/7995/2)
Overview
This is a work-based learning qualification that enables you to work as a specialist carpenter in the construction industry.
As a specialist carpenter, you will cut, shape and install complex fixtures and fittings such as walls, roofs and staircases. You will also learn how to work safely in a supervisory capacity as part of a team building and refurbishing homes or non-domestic properties.
This qualification confirms competency in working in wood occupations. You will learn how to conform to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace, how to conform to productive working practices in the workplace and how to move, handle and store resources in the workplace, as well as learn some advanced skills and techniques used in wood occupations.
You will take this Level 3 NVQ qualification if you are currently employed or have previously been employed in a supervisory capacity in carpentry and joinery, and have acquired specialist knowledge and experience over time.

You must have achieved the full framework of the Level 2 Diploma and NVQ in Carpentry & Joinery and provide evidence to this effect. Please email ScienceEngConstruction@belfastmet.ac.uk if you hold the entry criteria.
Non-native speakers must provide evidence of competency in English Language.

Carpenters and Joiners
Carpenters and Joiners specialise in installing floors, walls and roofing systems. Fitting and installing trims, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware. Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and sketches. With most construction roles you can be employed by building companies, building contractors or start your own business.
