Overview

This one-year, full-time OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media (Video Games) has been developed to enable learners to introduce the skills and knowledge relevant to the video computer games industry.

These courses provide a theory and practical based qualification, which will enable progression to further study or training to a Level 3 course.  This course is designed to give you an introduction into the exciting computer games industry sector by studying a video game mass media product.  Other modules include animation, graphic design, video game cinematics, photography and video game audio creation using various Adobe Suite industry standard software applications.

There is also a video game design module the industry standard software Unreal Engine.

The qualification is equivalent to four GCSEs.

The core units provide a broad overview of the video game industry while the optional units build on this by providing a more in-depth exploration of production techniques.

In addition to the course curriculum, we provide dedicated support to achieve Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy, essential for employment across diverse sectors.

Entry criteria for this course is:

You should have al least three points at Level 2 and have completed a programme of general education to Key Stage 4.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a variety of assignments, case studies, and individual and team projects. If required, you will also undertake Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy. This programme of study is likely to include enrichment units which are an additional component to enhance your employability.
